Positive Aspects
Reduce Pollution
Using solar energy can help the environment by reducing pollution. Although pollution is still created when the solar panels are made, using the solar panels to generate electricity does not produce any pollution. This would really help our environment because we can reduce the strain on the natural ecosystems, save natural habitats from oil companies, and also stop deforestation for charcoal.
Stabilize Economy
Right now, our economy is based on oil. This type of resource is spread unevenly though out the earth, causing tensions between countries that have oil and the ones that don't. If we used solar energy, there would be no problems because it is available to everyone. Also, solar energy is completely free and it will always be available, where as oil has very high prices and will not always be available. If we switched from oil to solar energy, our economy would not fluctuate due to oil prices.
Increase Home Safety
Using fossil fuels can be very dangerous, burning oil and coal can produce a lot of carbon dioxide. This can be very harmful to the environment and to us, long time exposure can kill a person. Also a small leaks can be devastating to properties. Fossil fuels and other forms of energy can be harmful, unlike solar energy, which is not unstable.
Populate Remote Locations
In some remote locations, electricity is not available unless large utilities are installed. Using solar energy can solve this problem because it is available everywhere, this way people living in remote places can still have electricity. Solar cells can be made anywhere if you have sunlight and if you have your solar panels angled in the right direction.
Passive Use
Solar energy does not have to go thought solar panels to have a positive effect on the way we live. Since sunlight is one of the major heat sources, we can use it in other ways too. Thermal mass can be used with solar energy; we can make walls that are dense so that they will store energy and release the heat solwy.
Health Benefits
Right now, a disease, SAD, is being researched by scientists. It is caused by the lack of vitamin D, which you can only get from the sun. Many people are starting to get this disease because we do not get enough exposure to the sun. Most of the time, we are buildings that are artificially lit.
