THE SCIENCE BEHIND SOLAR ENERGY
How is Solar Energy Gathered or Created?
Solar energy is gathered by using solar panels to convert the sun's energy into electricity. The solar panel is made up of silicon wafers that have wires attached inside to transfer the energy to the location that it is needed. The silicon has electrons in it that when hit by sunlight causes them to become active and create electricity
How is Solar Energy Stored for Later Use?
Solar energy is stored in batteries similar to car batteries the parts of the battery system are the charge controller, which keeps the battery from overcharging or undercharging, the battery bank, which are a bunch of batteries wired together, a system meter, which measures the performance and status, and a main DC disconnect, which makes it easier to disconnect the battery bank
What are the WASTE By-Products of Solar Energy?
They don't produce WASTE but the factories that make the solar panels create waste.
